What we found in Salisbury
We looked up 88 local businesses in Salisbury on Google Maps in October 2026, including auto shops (14), salons (13) and plumbers (7).
26 had no website on their Google listing at all, and 2 more only linked to a Facebook or Instagram page. Someone searching on a phone gets a phone number and not much else. That is more than the 23% we saw across all 34 towns we checked.
24 of the working sites belonged to appointment businesses (salons, auto shops and martial arts schools). 6 of them had no way to book online, so every appointment means a phone call during business hours.
We opened 40 of the websites listed on Google. 3 went nowhere: the page didn't load or showed an error, including 1 that landed on a parked domain or an expired-site page. Anyone who taps one of those links gets nothing.
Auto shops were the group most often missing a real website: 8 of the 14 we looked up had none, or only a social page.
How we counted: businesses we found on Google Maps in October 2026 while looking for salons, barbers, auto shops, trades, gyms, groomers and similar local businesses. Chains and medical offices are left out. A "dead" link means the website on the Google listing didn't load, showed an error or showed a parked page when we opened it. We don't name anyone, and the numbers are a snapshot.
