Websites for small businesses in Methuen, MA
Methuen sits in northern Massachusetts, about 23 miles from our office in Stratham. Before we call or walk into a business, we check how it shows up online. Here is what that looked like in Methuen.
What we found in Methuen
We looked up 159 local businesses in Methuen on Google Maps in October 2026, including insurance agencies (19), salons (17) and barber shops (15).
41 had no website on their Google listing at all, and 8 more only linked to a Facebook or Instagram page. Someone searching on a phone gets a phone number and not much else. That is more than the 23% we saw across all 34 towns we checked.
37 of the working sites belonged to appointment businesses (nail salons, salons and auto shops). 8 of them had no way to book online, so every appointment means a phone call during business hours.
3 of the 68 working sites weren't set up for phones, so the text shows up tiny and people pinch to zoom.
We opened 69 of the websites listed on Google. 1 went nowhere: the page didn't load or showed an error. Anyone who taps one of those links gets nothing.
Barber shops were the group most often missing a real website: 11 of the 15 we looked up had none, or only a social page.
How we counted: businesses we found on Google Maps in October 2026 while looking for salons, barbers, auto shops, trades, gyms, groomers and similar local businesses. Chains and medical offices are left out. A "dead" link means the website on the Google listing didn't load, showed an error or showed a parked page when we opened it. We don't name anyone, and the numbers are a snapshot.
