Websites for small businesses in Lawrence, MA
Lawrence is in northern Massachusetts, about 23 miles from our office in Stratham. We build websites, online booking and small software tools for local businesses, and these are the numbers that made us look closer at Lawrence.
What we found in Lawrence
We looked up 205 local businesses in Lawrence on Google Maps in October 2026, including auto shops (24), barber shops (22) and salons (17).
79 had no website on their Google listing at all, and 15 more only linked to a Facebook or Instagram page. Someone searching on a phone gets a phone number and not much else. That is more than the 23% we saw across all 34 towns we checked.
34 of the working sites belonged to appointment businesses (auto shops, tutoring centers and detailers). 12 of them had no way to book online, so every appointment means a phone call during business hours.
We opened 64 of the websites listed on Google. 4 went nowhere: the page didn't load or showed an error. Anyone who taps one of those links gets nothing.
2 of the 60 working sites weren't set up for phones, so the text shows up tiny and people pinch to zoom.
Salons were the group most often missing a real website: 13 of the 17 we looked up had none, or only a social page.
How we counted: businesses we found on Google Maps in October 2026 while looking for salons, barbers, auto shops, trades, gyms, groomers and similar local businesses. Chains and medical offices are left out. A "dead" link means the website on the Google listing didn't load, showed an error or showed a parked page when we opened it. We don't name anyone, and the numbers are a snapshot.
