Websites for small businesses in York, ME

We work with local businesses in southern Maine, and York is about 18 miles from our office in Stratham. This page is what we found when we checked how York businesses show up on Google.

What we found in York

In October 2026 we looked up 126 York businesses on Google Maps. The biggest groups were landscapers (16), salons (11) and electricians (10).

126York businesses we looked up
34/126no website, or only a social page
0/51website links on Google that go nowhere
8/31appointment businesses with no online booking

33 had no website on their Google listing at all, and 1 more only linked to a Facebook or Instagram page. Someone searching on a phone gets a phone number and not much else. That is more than the 23% we saw across all 34 towns we checked.

31 of the working sites belonged to appointment businesses (salons, groomers and gyms). 8 of them had no way to book online, so every appointment means a phone call during business hours.

3 of the 51 working sites weren't set up for phones, so the text shows up tiny and people pinch to zoom.

We opened 51 of the websites listed on Google and every one loaded. That is not true in most towns we checked.

Plumbers were the group most often missing a real website: 5 of the 7 we looked up had none, or only a social page.

How we counted: businesses we found on Google Maps in October 2026 while looking for salons, barbers, auto shops, trades, gyms, groomers and similar local businesses. Chains and medical offices are left out. A "dead" link means the website on the Google listing didn't load, showed an error or showed a parked page when we opened it. We don't name anyone, and the numbers are a snapshot.
